Meet Award Winning Author Gail Lukasik and Other Authors

At the Second Annual Lake County AUTHORFEST

Gail Lukasik, award-winning author of the Leigh Girard mystery series set in Door County, Wisconsin, will be one of the featured authors at the second annual AuthorFest. The book festival will take place at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center (2007 Civic Center Way, behind Meijer) on Saturday, August 5, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The family-friendly event, sponsored by This Old Book in Grayslake, welcomes visitors to meet and buy signed books from more than 35 local authors who write in various genres. Visitors can also participate in a community art project hosted by Grayslake Art Alliance, a raffle, and a scavenger hunt. Kids’ activities include children’s book readings and free face painting. Live music, and food vendors will be available.

Young writers, ages 4 to 18, are invited to enter their work in the AuthorFest’s Young Creative Writing Contest. Finalists will be featured during the festival.

AuthorFest kicks-off with a Q&A author panel discussing “Why the Written Word Still Rocks” at the Cultural Center on Wednesday, August 2, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. John Wasik, author of 16 books and contributor to the New York Times, Forbes, and CBS Monewywatch, will moderate.

Profits from the event will go to support the proposed Ray Bradbury Museum in Waukegan, Illinois. Visit the group’s webpage page for information on the project: www.raybradburymuseum.org
